Valtrex does not prevent Herpes it only makes the outbreak less severe. Your partener can still get Herpes even if you dont have an outbreak because you still have a live virus going on in your body. Is Genital Herpes Caught From A Cold Sore
If a person with a cold sore on the mouth does oral sex he or she can give his/her partner cold sores on the genitals which is genital herpes. Also, cold sores on the face may be caught from someone with genital herpes through oral sex.
Only the face of a person with cold sores is infectious so they can have sex, but should not kiss or do oral sex when they have a cold sore. See the description of the two types.

Dont give your baby expressed breast milk if the pump comes into contact with an open sore.

How Long Does Herpes Live Outside The Body
As easily as the herpes virus flourishes inside the human body, it cannot live for more than a few hours outside of the body .3 The only ways HSV-1 or HSV-2 can be spread from person to person is through kissing, sexual activity and coming into direct contact with an infected area of skin or open cold sore. While it is hypothetically possible that HSV can remain active in residual saliva on the rim of a glass or straw, the chance of transmission is still very slim. If You Have Genital Herpes Already Can It Be Spread To Other Parts Of The Body Such As The Arms Or Legs
No. Genital herpes cannot be transmitted to another part of your body such as your arm, leg or hand after the first infection occurs. If you have genital HSV II, you will not get HSV II at another site in your body. The immune system produces antibodies that protect other parts of your body from infection. However, there are cases where a person has multiple site infections from the same virus. This is usually acquired at the time of the first infection. For example, if someone has never had herpes but then has oral and genital sex with an infected partner, they can acquire the infection at both sites.

Study Design And Data Collection
The Partners in Prevention HSV-2/HIV-1 Transmission Study, a multisite, placebo-controlled, randomized, clinical trial, was conducted among 3408 HIV-1 discordant couples in which the HIV-1 infected partner was also HSV-2 seropositive. The study assessed whether the risk of HIV-1 transmission could be reduced by daily suppressive HSV-2 antiviral therapy . Study characteristics and main findings have been reported elsewhere . Suppressive acyclovir treatment was not associated with a decreased risk of HIV transmission .
As noted above, the HIV-infected partner in the HIV-discordant couple was required to be HSV-2 seropositive at enrollment however, no restrictions were placed on the HSV-2 status of the HIV-1-uninfected partner . Thus, a subset of couples was at risk of transmitting HSV-2. Quarterly sera samples were used to determine the timing of HSV-2 transmission.

As common as the virus is, it would still be wrong to claim that everyone has it. Some estimates claim that about 2/3 of the worlds population has it and the virus is even dormant in some people that dont develop any symptoms at all. Not everyone has herpes though, and its safe to say that those that dont have the virus dont want to get it.
So, the best way to go about it is to develop some habits that will keep you safe. And since herpes is highly contagious, you need to be very diligent about these protective habits, especially when training BJJ.

It is rare for people to re-catch a virus that they already have for a second time even on a different part of the body. Their immune system defends them against this. The virus does not travel through the body.
