Below we listed FAQ about egg donation.

Egg donation is an anonymous and altruistic act by which a woman voluntarily donates her eggs.
In order to donate eggs, it is necessary to meet certain requirements to guarantee the success rate therefore, it is essential that the donor candidates undergo a series of medical and psychological tests. In this way, it is guaranteed that the donor does not have any disease that could be transmitted to the offspring or any fertility problem.
In general, according to the Assisted Reproduction Law in force in Spain, the maximum number of children born alive from the same donor cannot exceed six.

Can Donating Blood Cause Weight Loss
Giving blood can give your weight loss goals a boostyou can burn about 650 calories every time you donate a pint, according to the University of California-San Diego. Thats about the same as jumping rope for 50 minutes. A big calorie burn shouldnt be your main reason for donating blood, but it sure is a nice perk.
The Screening Process Is Very Strict
At the end of the screening, only a small portion of those who showed interest in donating eggs will be eligible to donate. Although rates may differ from one clinic to the other, this is partly due to the stringent egg donor screening process.
At times, just 10% of women who complete an initial screening enter the second stage, and only 10% of those women make it to the egg donation process itself.
A lot of candidates are disqualified between the application process and the second stage.
Sometimes, the women may not fulfill the age criteria for the donation, and other times, they live too far away from the clinic.
BMI requirements are another reason why a lot of women get weeded out.

Its Not All About The Money
Purcell says one of the biggest misconceptions about egg donation is that women donate just for the compensation. She says the majority of her egg donors dont do it for the money, but to help somebody else. Its kinda like when you go and donate blood and you leave, and youre like, That feels really good. I hope someone was able to use it, and benefit from it, and I think our donors have that same type of feeling of being grateful for the experience. She also notes that her donors go through a lot to be an egg donor: If you were to break that down into an hourly compensation, that isnt why they do it. Some of our best donors have personal experience with infertility, a family member, a friend, a media story that really called their attention. Levine agrees, saying that, the money helps, but the altruism is the driving factor.
If You Were Infected During Oral Sex
If you are someone who acquired genital herpes during oral sex, its a good idea to talk to your partner about what happened. Think about educating them, rather than engaging in blame.
Its unlikely that they were trying to intentionally transmit an STI. Unfortunately, a lot of people with cold sores are unaware of the risk of transmitting herpes during oral sex.

Can I Donate Eggs If I Had My Tubes Tied
A tubal ligation does not affect the ovarian production of eggs. Therefore, women who had their tubes tied can become egg donors.
Women often think that a tubal ligation renders them ineligible for a donation. However, the retrieval of the egg is done directly through the follicles. Therefore, the state of the tubes is not important, as the egg wont be released into the body.
What If Im Having An Outbreak
If youre feeling especially ill, either because of herpes symptoms or another illness, its best to wait.
The Australian Red Cross guidelines say not to donate blood during an active herpes outbreak. Their website advises to wait until any sores are gone. The area of infection must be clean and dry.
The site also says if youve come into sexual contact with someone who has active genital herpes, to wait two weeks before donating blood.

It Turns Out Herpes Could Cause Infertility
A rare strain may be to blame.
Infertility can be difficult to grapple with, even for the strongest of couples. And when doctors cant explain why youve had no luck getting knocked up? Well, thats even more frustrating.
Researchers discovered that the herpes strain HHV-6A infected the uterine lining in 43 percent of the 30 women in the study with unexplained infertility. However, it was not found in the uterus lining of the 36 women in the study who had no issues conceiving.
While HHV-6A is different than the strains that cause cold sores and genital herpes, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that its still somewhat common. Doctors can determine if you have an HHV-6A infection by doing a biopsy of your uterine lining, a procedure that can be done in-office without anesthesia.

How Old Do You Have To Be To Donate Eggs
We generally will only consider women between the ages of 18 and 29 to donate eggs. This is because a womans egg reserve diminishes as she ages. While many women believe they are fertile right until menopause, it actually becomes more challenging to get pregnant with each passing year. This is not only because women lose eggs as they get older, but also because the quality of the remaining eggs declines over time. Limiting egg donation to women under the age of 30 gives us a better chance of retrieving eggs that are viable.

Are There Any Specific Requirements To Donate Eggs To Your Sister
Known egg donation is allowed in some countries, but regardless of whether you choose an anonymous or a known egg donor, the screening process will be exactly the same, including cases where the sister, cousin, aunt, sister-in-law, etc. becomes the egg donor.
You can find more information about intrafamilial egg donation here: Egg donation to a family member for IVF.
Would You Recommend Pgt If I Have Had Recurrent Miscarriages
There are many possible causes for miscarriage. About 50% of first trimester miscarriages are due to a chromosome abnormality. This may be related to a patients age or a rearrangement in a parents chromosomes that predisposes conceptions with chromosome abnormalities. PGT can be performed for either of these possibilities. For patients over 35, the greatest risk may be for aneuploidy, a pregnancy with the wrong number of chromosomes, such as Down syndrome. PGT for aneuploidy screening offers these women a greater chance of a successful and healthy pregnancy. If a parent has a balanced structural chromosome rearrangement, such as a translocation, a different type of PGT is available.

Can I Be An Egg Donor If I Am Overweight
Unfortunately, no. Most women need a BMI under 28 in order to donate eggs. Being at a healthy weight is one of the factors that intended parents will screen for when selecting egg donors. While a womans BMI is just one aspect of her overall health, it is an important consideration during fertility treatments. Obesity can affect your hormones and make the donation process more complicated. Obesity can also impact how your body metabolizes fertility drugs and can make our medications less effective. If you are obese and would still like to donate your eggs, a doctor can help you lose weight in a healthy way so you can meet egg donor qualifications in the future.
Pain And/or Itching In Or Around The Blisters
Lesions are usually very painful to touchespecially during the first herpes outbreak, which tends to be more severe. The main thing that brings women into the office with herpes is pain, says Dr. Shirazian. Bumps that you find just by chance when sudsing up in the shower or toweling off probably arent herpes. Herpes lesions will make themselves known and felt, she says. They can also itch, especially as they begin to scab over and heal.

What To Know About Donating Eggs
Informing donors that donating their gametes does not give them any legal right or duty to rear the donor-conceived children is a key step at the very beginning of the process.
Likewise, IVF programs should strongly encourage donors, as well as recipients, that they have to provide medical updates at any point of the process if they learn about serious genetic or other conditions that may compromise the offsprings health.
Although donors often choose to provide gametes to others because they are willing to help them create a family, they may be motivated for getting an economic compensation as well. Along with them, other interests may be present, such as:
- Being protected in the process
- Being treated fairly if injuries occur
- Having no obligations imposed on them without their prior consent
- Being informed about the outcome of their donation
- Having or not having contact with the donor-conceived child
The latter point is still an area of uncertainty according to the ASRM. Thus, whereas some donors may wish to remain anonymous and simply donate their gametes, others may be interests in getting to know the prospective families.
How Can I Tell If Its Scabies Or Herpes
Scabies is caused by tiny eight-legged mites that burrow into the skin to live, feed, and lay their eggs. There are millions of cases of scabies worldwide each year.
Herpes may be confused with scabies because both conditions can cause a skin rash of small, itchy bumps and blisters that spread through person-to-person contact. As with herpes, the scabies skin rash is sometimes seen in the genital area. It can be transmitted through close physical or sexual contact because the mites can move from one body to another. If youve never had scabies before, it can take two to six weeks to develop symptoms after the mites move in.
Unlike herpes, you can also get scabies from bedding, clothes, or furniture thats infested with mites, since the mites can live for about three to four days without being on a human.
Also unlike herpes, scabies is most commonly found on the hands, arms, and legs, and the most common symptom is severe itching that occurs mainly at night.
Your dermatologist can tell if you have scabies by examining your skin or looking at a small piece of skin under a microscope, notes the American Academy of Dermatology.
Scabies is easily treated with a medicated cream or lotion that kills the mites.

What Is Suppressive Therapy
Suppressive therapy involves taking an oral antiviral drug every day for prolonged periods. It interferes with the herpes virus reproductive cycle and so prevents or dramatically reduces the number of recurrences. When recurrences do occur, they are usually less severe and shorter lasting.
If you find the frequency of your outbreaks unacceptable, or if you are finding it difficult to cope emotionally with having recurrences of genital herpes, tell your doctor and discuss the use of suppressive therapy.

You Got A Tattoo Or Piercing
These giving blood restrictions pop up on a lot of lists as being some of the more surprising reasons you might not be able to give blood. The concern behind tattoos, piercings, and even intravenous drug use, is that the instruments and needles used in these practices may spread hepatitis.
For tattoos, you wont be asked to defer your blood donation so long as you live in a state that regulates its tattoo facilities. If you dont live in a state that regulates these facilities then you should wait 3 months before donating blood.
For piercings, you wont be asked to defer your blood donation so long as the piercing was conducted using single-use equipment. If the piercing was made using reusable equipment then you will be asked to wait 3 months before donating.
How Long Does An Egg Donation Process Take
Egg donation is a process that requires time commitment. You will need to meet with us for an initial screening and consultation, then commit to 3 or 4 visits per week for approximately 2 weeks while you receive fertility injections. On the day of your egg retrieval, you will also need to take the day off from school or work. While the process is rewarding and so worthwhile, the number of appointments you will be required to attend might feel like having a second job for a short while.
