How Is Genital Herpes Treated During Pregnancy
- Oral antiviral medications may be used during pregnancy.
- One serious concern with genital herpes in pregnancy is transmission of the infection to the baby during delivery. In an infant, genital herpes infection can spread through the bloodstream and have serious consequences.
- Cesarean delivery is performed for women who go into labor while there is an active outbreak of genital herpes in order to prevent infection of the baby during birth.
- The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that pregnant women with recurrent genital herpes be offered oral antiviral medication at or beyond 36 weeks until delivery in order to increase the chances of being able to deliver vaginally.
Home Care Measures For Genital Herpes
First, simple self-care may be enough to relieve most discomfort caused by genital herpes. Taking an over-the-counter pain reliever, such as aspirin, acetaminophen, or ibuprofen, can help ease the pain of herpes symptoms. Doctors sometimes recommend soaking the affected area in warm water. But the area should be kept dry most of the time. If toweling off after bathing is uncomfortable, try using a hair dryer. Then put on cotton underwear. Cotton absorbs moisture better than synthetic fabric does.
Is There A Way To Prevent Getting Herpes
You can protect yourself and your partner by taking steps to prevent an outbreak of herpes. Some things that you can do include:
-If you already have herpes, dont have sex until the outbreak is completely gone, even with a condom.
-Try to learn the signs of an impending outbreak, such as itching, tingling and burning, and stop having sex as soon as you notice.
-If you wear contact lenses, dont wet your lenses with your saliva. This could spread your herpes infection to your eyes.
-Dont have sex with your partner until your herpes sores are completely healed.
-Always tell your partner if you are infected with the herpes virus before you have sex. Even though it can be embarrassing and difficult, herpes is very common, and telling your partner will help keep the infection from spreading.

Should I Get A Surgery To Remove Genital Warts
Even if you get a medical procedure to remove warts on/around the genitals, this likely wont get rid of the underlying HPV virus, meaning they can still be transmissible even though they arent visible. Surgery for warts on groin may be a suitable option if other treatments arent helpful with removal, or when warts are widespread.
Cryotherapy, although not surgical, is another medical type of treatment. In this procedure liquid nitrogen is used to freeze warts. This can be good for internal genital warts, and individuals with smaller numbers of warts. This method is said to be safe for pregnancy, and doesnt cause scarring.
Treatment options will ultimately depend on many factors, including the amount, size, type of wart, etc. Surgical methods are also proven to be more effective on warts that are keratinized rather than those that are not.

Drink a lot of water to dilute your urine. You can even add some baking soda to it. Believe me, it will help. The reason why it stings to pee is because you probably have lesions inside your urethra and regular urine is too acidic.
A pap smear is not the usual way to diagnose herpes, by the way. Did the doctor do a swab specifically for herpes? You should find out and also ask which type youve been diagnosed with, HSV-1 or HSV-2.

What Causes Genital Herpes
Eight species of viruses in the herpesvirus family are currently known to infect humans, but only two of them cause genital herpes. The most common cause is herpes simplex virus type 2.
It is also a cause of genital herpes, the herpes simplex virus type 1, well known because it is the main cause of the disease in the parts of the body located above the shoulders such as the face, eyes and mouth.
Sometimes we confuse the causes of genital herpes with the triggers. Stress, prolonged exposure to the sun, and wearing clothes that are too tight on the body are all factors that can cause herpes outbreaks in people infected with the virus, but they are not the real cause.
Ways Of Genital Herpes Transmission
Lets understand how genital herpes is transmitted.
The HSV-1 virus that causes cold sores or blisters around the mouth is transmitted through skin contact.
It can also spread to the genital areas while performing oral sex. The possibility of recurrence of this type of infection is not as frequent as with HSV-2 infection.
HSV-2, which causes genital herpes spreads through sexual contact and also skin contact. It is very contagious and spreads whether you have open sores or not.
You cannot contract the infection through towels, use of common toilets or touching objects that the infected person has touched because the virus doesnt survive for long outside the body.

How Long After Herpes Outbreak Is It Still Contagious
For oral herpes, cold sores are usually contagious for up to 15 days and are generally no longer contagious once all symptoms have cleared, which includes the blister itself and any scabbing.
Someone carrying genital herpes should wait until 7 days after the sore heals to begin engaging in sexual activity, as the herpes virus can spread from sores not covered by a condom.
Do Condoms Help Prevent The Spread Of Genital Herpes
Yes. To prevent transmission of herpes, we recommend that condoms be used 100% of the time. Many patients will shed the virus and be contagious when they dont have symptoms. Studies have shown that asymptomatic shedding occurs between 1% and 3% of the time in patients with HSV II genital infections. Many new herpes infections occur from partners who are shedding the virus asymptomatically, so condoms are highly recommended.
Condoms may not be an attractive option for monogamous couples or for couples who desire to become pregnant. Couples may opt to have serological tests to determine if either partner has an asymptomatic infection. In close monogamous relationships, the risks of transmission can be weighed against other relationship issues, such as intimacy and pregnancy.

Try Essential Oils At Genital/mouth Sores
Essential oils are extracted from medicinal plants, where they get their healing properties from.
However, these are potent liquids that can be too harsh on the skin if applied directly. So, you will have to dilute them in a carrier oil such as olive oil or coconut oil before application.
Some of the most recommended essential oils for healing genital and oral herpes are tea tree oil, thyme oil, and ginger oil.
How to use:
You can either use them all together or individually, but make sure to add olive oil/coconut oil to the mix as well. Apply the oil blend to the infected area.
Can Genital Herpes Be Cured With Drugs
The answer to this question is not affirmative because there are no medications to cure genital herpes.
There is an intermediate solution because with the available medicines the disease can be treated to shorten the duration of outbreaks and decrease the frequency of recurrences.
Treatment of genital herpes with drugs is based on the use of an antiviral agent that stops the reproduction of the virus, although it does not eliminate it definitively. The simultaneous use of several antiviral agents does not make the treatment more effective that is why only one is used.
Acyclovir is available in various forms: tablets, injections, capsules, suspensions for oral use, ointments and creams. Its topical presentations are the creams and ointments and the non-topical ones, the rest.
The use of creams on the genitals is contraindicated due to the high content of water in its chemical composition, which creates a suitable habitat for fungi that can damage them.
People who dont know that creams shouldnt be used on the genitals often ask for creams for genital herpes when they should be interested in ointments, which are compounds without water or with a lower water content than creams.
Non-topical presentations of acyclovir often have several harmful health side effects including hair loss, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach upset, and changes in vision.
Valacyclovir is available in tablet form and when metabolized by the body it becomes acyclovir. The same is true of famciclovir.
