I was in excruciating pain when I had my first outbreak so I know how bad it is and feel for you I used a drugstore emergency lidocaine cream that is used to soothe burns and it helped temporarily when I was in alot of pain. I’d recommend you leave the area as dry as possible which is why most doctors dont recommend creams unless youre in unbearable pain . The best options are to take warm sitz baths with epsom salt and submerge yourself in it. Make sure not to get urine on the lesions as it causes tons of pain and irritation, the best way I found was to pee in the bathtub in a squatting position. What i also found soothing was to use the hair dryer on cool setting after I took a shower/bath. I hope this information is helpful, I know it feels like the end of the world right now but you will be better soon I promise
